Climbing Plants

Climbing Plants are a useful addition to any garden or patio. They can be used to screen unsightly walls or fences, or to act as a background to emphasize a feature plant. Grown up an obelisk in a border or container they can add height and a focal point, whereas grown over a pergola they can create a shady area to sit.

Some climbing plants are self supporting and will 'cling' to walls readily, whilst others need the support of trellis, mesh, obelisks or arches. There are are number of shrubs, for example Pyracantha and Ceanothus which although not climbing, prefer the shelter of a wall and can create a similar effect to a climbing plant.

We stock an extensive range of Clematis, Honeysuckle, Jasmine, Climbing Roses, Ivy and more as well as some lesser known climbing plants including Trachelospermum, Climbing hydrangea, Campsis. To support them a range of trellis, mesh, vine eyes and wires, obelisks and arches are available on site.

Why not plant a fragrant climbing plant near to an outdoor seating area so you can enjoy the aroma. If you have a bare sunny wall you can also consider growing one of our fan trained fruit trees.
