Roses

We stock a wide range of Roses at Donington Nurseries.

Climbing and Rambling Roses - suitable for trellis, pergolas, arches etc. Many varieties are suited to shady sites too.

Hybrid Tea Bush Roses - the classic pointed bud rose, each stem bears a single flower. Often used as a cut flower. A range of colours and mostly fragrant.

Florabunda Roses - these bear numerous flowers held in large clusters and tend to flower over a longer period, often repeat-flowering. Generally have good disease resistance and many are fragrant.

Shrub Roses - old and new varieties, easy to grow and tolerant of a range of soil conditions. We stock a range of David Austin Shrub Roses and Peter Beale's shrub roses.

Patio Roses - Smaller sized plants and blooms great for containers, lightly scented.

Rugosa and Canina Roses - more of a wild type of rose for hedges and wild gardens. Canina can grow tall so can be used to ramble through bushes or on support. Bear hips in autumn.

Standard Roses- grown on a stem, both Hybrid tea and Florabunda roses are grown as standards , with patio roses grown as mini standards. Good to add height or as a focal point in rose beds, borders or containers.

Rose of the Year - Rose breeders are invited, through Roses UK, to enter what they consider to be the best of their up and coming varieties in to the Rose of the Year competition. We always stock the Rose of the Year, but be quick as these tend to sell out quickly!

Varieties are ever-changing so please telephone if you require a particular variety. Main stocking season is March - June, with lower stocks available outside of this period.

Many of our Roses are aptly named for occasions such as wedding anniversaries, retirement, births and birthdays as well as roses suitable for a memorial or tribute.
